 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Picture
WE WELCOME YOU AND YOUR TALENTS.

Volunteer opportunities are available all year round for short term projects or for longer term involvement.  Your assistance is critical to making the Historical Society a lively and meaningful part of southwestern Dane county. Come and join us!

Contact us for more information
(608) 437-6486
and/or fill out our Volunteering Form.

Current Volunteer Opportunities:

Museum Docent
Docents greet visitors, answer questions about the current exhibits, work in the Driftless Historium Gift Store and generally act as good will ambassadors. You can receive special training to give tours during museum hours or at other times to special groups. The Society's Driftless Historium Museum is located at 100 South Second Street in Mt. Horeb. Docents are scheduled for three hours per shift, as little as once per month.  There is free parking on the street and the building is handicap accessible.

Research Volunteering
Help the Society's Curator sort through fascinating collections of papers, photographs and artifacts so they may be used by researchers.  Many of these collections would be more fun with two people working together, so recruit a friend!

Special Talents
The Museum needs a Norwegian language translator to help us transcribing historic records in our collection including letters, postcards, and church records. This is a task that could be done remotely.
