John "Jack" R. Holum - Jack served in the U.S. Army. He was deployed to the European theater and served there until his death on March 24, 1945. He was killed by mortar fire from German guns in the village of Gotterswickerhamm, Germany and was buried for a time in Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, Holland before being returned home to be buried in Mount Horeb Union Cemetery.
William "Bill" E. Keithley - Bill served in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was deployed to the Pacific theater and served there until his death on July 21, 1944 during the first day of the Battle of Guam. Bill was killed while transporting ammunition from the beach to an ordnance depot. Intially buried in Guam, Bill's remains would eventually be laid to rest in the National Memorial Cemetery in Honolulu, Hawaii. |
