Britta Johnson has lived in rural Mount Horeb for 11 years. She is married and has 2 boys, ages 16 and 10. Husband Pat co-owns a small family shoe business with his sister; while Britta works fulltime in medical device sales and also hasa small business selling cut flowers. Britta and family "absolutely love" this community and the natural beauty of the Driftless region.
She was introduced to MHAHS a few years ago when she needed a large scanner to digitize an old and fragile family history album, and a friend recommended calling the Driftless Historium. She was welcomed in to use the scanner; started chatting and was offered a tour—and was blown away by the exhibits and archives. "I had lived in the community for many years by that time and had no idea how amazing MHAHS and the Driftless Historium were!" Since then, Britta has participated in museum-hosted events and have contributed two Past Times newsletter articles. She has enjoyed working with the staff and am impressed with the energy they put into MHAHS.
Britta surmises that she picked up the history bug from spending a lot of time with her grandmothers. They grew up together in a rural Minnesota community and loved telling stories about her ancestors, her Scandinavian roots and the "olden days." Mount Horeb reminds Britta a lot of the rural community from which her extended family is from, so learning about and preserving THIS local history is important to her. She is committed to helping MHASH engage a broader audience.

He also assists the local YoungLife organization with Fund Raising as a member of the YoungLife Annual Golf Outing committee and Dessert Fundraiser. Returning Board member.
