RESEARCH SERVICES AND FEES
Three easy steps to conduct YOUR OWN RESEARCH IN OUR ARCHIVES:
1) Fill out a research request form (link below); we will use this information to determine if our archives contain readily available documents relevant to your project;
2) wait for us to contact you; our turnaround time at the moment is 3 to 6 business days (if you have a deadline you are working under, please clearly state that on the research request form);
3) we will then arrange an appointment for you to do research. RESEARCH POLICY
The general research policy of the Mount Horeb Area Historical Society, as relates to research requests, is that once we are informed about your project, we will conduct a brief scan of our records (roughly 20-30 minutes) to see if we have any readily available information related to your topic of interest. We will then report back to you with the results of this search. At that time, you can make an appointment to view whatever we may have located and/or do further research on your own using our records. Due to limited staff and opening hours, advance appointments are required for all on-site research. There is no charge to conduct your own research.
IF WE DO YOUR RESEARCH
If you elect to have us continue the research on your behalf, there is a $28 per hour fee, payable whether said research is fruitful or not. The full research will not proceed until you have paid a $28 minimum fee (you will be billed in 15-minute increments for any additional time spent on your project after the first hour).
