Melissa Roelli
Melissa Roelli Photography

Exploring the way the light shines through leaves or the way a fern and a flower curl around each other allows Melissa Roelli to completely escape and time seems to stand still. She hopes to encourage people to pause and appreciate the details of the world through her photographs.

Melissa received her first camera, a manual focus SLR Pentax, from her dad when she was six years old. Thirty five years later she is using a Sony Alpha a6000, but admits that fussing with camera settings can distract her so she often just uses her phone. (Shhhh…  don't tell the pros!) "Having the chance to sit close with the flowers, or lie on the ground and look at a leaf in a different way makes me so happy. I love trying to capture the joy of the moment in the easiest way possible."

Most of her photographs are taken at Bloomfield Prairie and the gorgeous state parks of the Driftless Region, where sheis blessed to live. Known to spend fifteen minutes capturing the same group of flowers, she is grateful for her very patient husband and dog who wait for her when hiking.

When she isn't outside you can find her enjoying her work as a librarian at the Mt. Horeb Public Library.
