ARTIST STATEMENT
"My name is Christopher Sweet and I am a tribal member of the Wisconsin Ho-Chunk Nation. I studied at The Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, N.M.
My work is strongly influenced by my American Indian heritage and the pride I have for my culture. Before the pandemic, attending Pow-Wows was one of my main sources for visual inspiration and spiritual connections. There are different styles of dance and brilliant colored regalia at the pow-wow that never cease to amaze me. I like to incorporate those energies & colors into my paintings. I like to work with acrylics and different types of mediums to create textures along with varied types of surfaces. My work’s range from abstract to abstract realism and range from tiny canvases to large scale murals. If you would like to learn more or have questions I can be reached at [email protected]. To view more of my artwork go to Facebook: C Sweet Native Art Thank you for supporting American Indian Arts." |
