Hauge Evangelical Lutheran Church
|
Village or Township: Perry Township
Address: Intersection of County Highway A & Knutson Rd, Mount Horeb, WI Operated: Pastors: Notes: When the Hauge congregation outgrew their log church building, they constructed a new frame building on top of a hill 1 ½ miles west of Forward on what is now county Highway A. For a number of years the congregation thrived, until the 1950s when a decreasing rural population and membership made it difficult to continue. The members decided to join other churches in the area. In 1981, this building was removed. The alter, alter rail, and several artifacts from this building are part of the Mount Horeb Area Historical Society’s collections. The cemetery, established on the same ground as the building, is all that remains at the site today. |
