COMMUNITY LISTENING SESSIONS TO HELP SHAPE FUTURE OF MHAHS

The Mount Horeb Area Historical Society invites all area residents and business owners to a series of community listening sessions. The sessions are intended to capture the perspectives, input and ideas of those 14,500 folks that the Society considers its core constituency in relation to the planned Heritage Center, now in the development stage with the assistance of professional museum consultants. 

Attendees will hear a short introduction of the history and status of the Heritage Center project, and then will be asked to contribute to discussion on open-ended questions such as, “What do you envision happening in the proposed building; what do you think is the best use of space therein?,” “What types of programs and activities would you be likely to attend and/or like to see offered?”, “What are your concerns about or hopes for this project?”

The sessions will be limited to an hour and a half. They will be facilitated by Society Director Destinee Udelhoven, with the assistance from members of the Board of Directors and integral volunteers. 

The valuable input gathered from these listening sessions will be used to assist in decisions about long-range planning, public programming development, and fine-tuning of the building design.

We want to hear from you—and your cousins—and your neighbors.  The Heritage Center will be a community-focused institution; help us make it right from the start.

Six installments of the listening session are planned throughout the area that the Society considers the focus of its interpretation and preservation efforts. Locations and dates are as follows: Mount Horeb Community Center (107 N. Grove St., Mount Horeb, WI) on Tuesday, February 24; Blue Mounds Village Hall (11011 Brigham Ave., Blue Mounds, WI) on Tuesday, March 10; Perry Town Hall (10084 County Hwy A, Mount Horeb, WI) on Tuesday, March 24; Cross Plains/Pine Bluff Community Center (3734 County Road P, Cross Plains, WI) on Tuesday, April 7; Vermont Lutheran Church (9886 Vermont Church Rd, Black Earth, WI) on Tuesday, April 28; and Springdale Town Hall (2379 Town Hall Rd., Mount Horeb, WI) on Tuesday, May 12.

All sessions will begin at 7p.m., follow the same format and ask the same questions. Take-home materials will be available related to the Society in general, as well as the Heritage Center Capital Campaign.  Attend one session or all of them.
