Biennial report of the Dairy and Food Commissioner of WI: Forward PO 1896, 1898, 1903; Blue Mounds 1930. The current owner said that there were several other buildings of this construction in the area south into Green County. The tunnel was constructed by making a mound of earth. Stones were then places on top of the mound. Afterwards the dirt was removed. There appears to be very little mortar between the stones. There is a chimney hole in the center of ceiling about where the person is standing. |
