2025 STUDENt SPOTLIGHT

APPLICATIONS DUE WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 15, 2024.

The Driftless Historium is now accepting applications for the 2025 Student Spotlight. This 6th annual partner initiative of the Mount Horeb Area Historical Society and the Mount Horeb High School Art Department fosters and celebrates the talent of area youth. The selected student artists are awarded a project budget, made possible by Mount Horeb Area Historical Society donors, to curate, install and promote their own art installation. Throughout the process, MHAHS Director Destinee Udelhoven and MHHS educators Dana Showers and Dana King provide mentoring and guidance.

The Student Spotlight art show will debut in the Driftless Historium’s Kalscheur Family Foundation Community Gallery for a six-week summer residency. The museum’s highly trafficked downtown location (100 S 2nd St) and growing reputation as a regional art space offers high visibility in a professional venue. Past participants have received extensive media attention, including newspaper features and television interviews.

This opportunity is open to Mount Horeb High School Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors, and those studying at an equivalent level within the district, with no previous gallery or museum experience required. Applications are available at www.mthorebhistory.org (search “Student Spotlight”) or at the Driftless Historium front desk (open Friday to Tuesday, 10:00am to 4:00pm). Completed forms can be dropped off on site or submitted via email to [email protected]. The application deadline is Wednesday, January 15, 2025. All applications will be reviewed by committee, with the selected student notified on Monday, February 03.  For more information, call 608-437-6486.
