This frame two-story cube was built for Betsy Peterson in 1895 (Village of Mount Horeb Tax Rolls). It has aluminum siding and has lost its original leaded glass cottage windows, brackets, cast concrete block porch piers, and paneled porch rails. This property was owned by Betsy Peterson from 1895 until at least 1910, By Charles and John Peterson from at least 1915 until at least 1940, by John Bakken in 1945, by Clarence Lunde from at least 1950 until at least 1975, and by Todd Herd and Ronald Behnke from at least 1980 until at least 1985. In 1996, it was owned by Anderson (Village of Mount Horeb Tax Rolls). The Betsy Peterson House is not individually eligible for historic designation.


311 West Main Street (Ole Peterson House)

This frame vernacular house was constructed for Ole Peterson in 1895 (Village of Mount Horeb Tax Rolls; Mount Horeb Times, May 9, 1895). It has aluminum or vinyl siding, and has lost its original windows (including at least two inset with leaded glass) and fenestration pattern, porch piers and rails, and shingling above the roof-line. The parcel this house sits on was at one time a part of Ole Peterson's farm. Ole Peterson is an important figure in Mount Horeb history, become [sic] some of Peterson's farm was platted in 1881, as the Peterson Addition to Mount Horeb Station, forming the western one-third of the village. In 1895, Peterson built this house as his residence. He owned the property from 1895 until 1903. Ole Peterson's farm house, if it is still standing, would have greater significance, for its longer association with him. A later long-time resident was Thomas Cassidy, a letter carrier, who owned the house for 50 years. Henry Lee owned the property from 1903 until at least 1906, Elmer Hogan owned it in 1908, S.H. Slinde owned it from 1909 until 1910, Thomas Cassidy owned it from 1911 until at least 1960, Mevel Daley owned it from at least 1965 until at least 1970, Carey Hall owned it in 1975, Curtis and Sharon Amble owned it in 1980, Sharon Amble owned it in 1985, and Marty owned it in 1996 (Village of Mount Horeb Tax Rolls). The Peterson House is not individually eligible for historic designation.


313 West Main Street (Martin Anderson House)

This frame two-story cube was erected for Martin Anderson in 1895 (Village of Mount Horeb Tax Rolls; Mount Horeb Times, May 9, 1895). It has aluminum siding and a flat-roofed side addition, but does retain its original full-facade front porch with Doric columns and paneled rails. Martin Anderson owned this property from 1895 until 1905, Martin Lewis owned it from 1905 until 1910, Carrie Lewis owned it from 1911 until at least 1920, John F. Lynch owned it from at least 1925 until at least 1935, Glen Bohn owned it from at least 1945 until at least 1980, David Jones and Charles Steinhauer owned it in 1985, and Dixie Burns owned it in 1996 (Village of Mount Horeb Tax Rolls). The Anderson House is not individually eligible for historic designation.


315 West Main Street (Peter & Gertrude Heuser House)

This brick-veneered Craftsman house was constructed for Peter and Gertrude Heuser in 1916 (Village of Mount Horeb Tax Rolls). It is a modest example of the Craftsman style, with good integrity, and features nice porch details including brick porch piers and rails trimmed with white concrete or stone, and simple ornamental brick work. In the early 1920s, Peter Heuser had a Buick garage; he later worked as a bookkeeper (Wisconsin State Gazetteer and Business Directory). The Heusers owned this property from 1916 until at least 1970, Robert and Charlotte Myers owned it from at least 1975 until at least 1980, and Richard and Rosemary Frederickson have owned it since at least 1985 (Village of Mount Horeb Tax Rolls). The Heuser House is not individually eligible for historic designation.
