120 South Second Street
This brick astylistic utilitarian building was built for Fred Luder to serve as a cheese warehouse in 1908, following the buring of Luder's previous cheese warehouse (The Mount Horeb Centennial Book, 1861-1961, p. 49; Wisconsin State Gazetteer and Business Directory). Fred Luder, and later his son, Fred Junior, conducted a wholesale cheese distribution business in Mount Horeb from 1893 until 1924 (The Mount Horeb Centennial Book, 1861-1961, p. 31). The J.S. Hoffman Company, of Monroe, then bought the property and continued to merchandise wholesale cheese. In 1940, the Hoffman Company sold the property to the Kaestner-Henze Company. The Kaestner-Henze Compnay expanded the building to the south circa 1945 (Village of Mount Horeb Tax Rolls). Mount Horeb Cold Storage bought the property from Kaestner-Henze in 1971, and sold it [to] Ryser Brothers, Incorporated in 1979. Ryser Brothers owned the property until 1993. It has been owned by George Stauffer since 1993 (Village of Mount Horeb Tax Rolls). The Luder Cheese Warehouse is not individually eligible for historic designation.

This property was owned by the Kaestner-Henze Company from at least 1950 until 1970; by Mount Horeb Cold Storage from 1971 until 1979; and by Ryser Brothers, Incorporated from 1979 until 1993. In 1996, it was owned by Johnson (Village of Mount Horeb Tax Rolls). The Kaestner-Henze Cold Storage Building is not eligible for historic designation.
